Once again the membership of IAFF Local 244 has stepped up and raised more than enough money to send Brother Gil Pohl and his children to Disneyland. We were humbled by the huge amount of public support and are very grateful; this would not have been possible without their help. Several IAFF Locals within the state and across the country also graciously contributed to the cause. As of today we have concluded our fundraising drive collecting over $15,000 from efforts lead by Lt. Bryan Pacheco and the Poker Tournament held on October 26th hosted by retired brother Chester Fuller (picture posted). Donations will still be accepted for the Firefighter Survivors Fund to assist future fire families faced with life threatening illnesses. Brother Pacheco has demonstrated great dedication in spearheading this initiative for Gil Pohl and deserves recognition for outstanding leadership! We also would like to acknowledge President Sam Trujillo and the AFD Retiree Association for co-sponsoring the fundraising efforts and cooking for all of us at the Poker Tournament. We will also be hosting a Poker Tournament Fundraiser for Brother John Brown, date and time TBA.
