Securing minimum staffing with rank specific sworn personnel is critical to safe and effective operations. In working with Council President Dan Lewis and Councilor Isaac Benton we have achieved the long standing goal of this union to secure the policy and practice of safe minimum staffing through a City Council Resolution (R-16-41). This resolution requires that as the growth of the city and call volume for the department increases, the city shall categorically maintain and increase staffing levels with sworn personnel in the field and in support divisions to sustain fire and EMS operations. This initiative coincided perfectly with the AFD's achievement of the ISO 1 rating earlier this year. Together these two accomplishments ensure optimal emergency services to the citizens of Albuquerque while keeping our members as safe as possible.
