I want to take time to thank you for presenting the Union Charter Members the certificates of appreciation at our June 12th memorial function .... Today another of these brother retiree's passed away ( Paul Garcia Sr. ) and it meant a lot to him and his family to have received recognition for his involvement in starting our Union ..... Back in the early 1950's it must have been extremely difficult to be involved in starting our Union as it meant possible employment termination for these Fire Fighters ..... We are quickly loosing these Charter members that were the backbone of Local 244 .... These brothers paved the way for us and taking time to say " THANK YOU " means so much to us Retired Union Brothers ..... I appreciate you and your staff for doing something that was long over-due ..... Please convey our sincere thank you to Local 244 members.
