The IAFF Local 244 is sponsoring the first annual "Fire Fighters Feeding Families" Christmas charity event on December 18, 2010. We will invite homeless/underprivileged families, whose children are excelling in school, to a firehouse Christmas dinner. Fire Fighters will serve in this event at all AFD and BCFD stations (34 total). The intent is for 34 families to participate. We have contacted APS for a roster of families that fit this criteria and encourage members to submit families to us for consideration. The meals will funded by $5.00 contributions by each member. Please drop off your contribution at the union hall Mon-Fri 10am - 3pm. We need to assign two off-duty Fire Fighters to each station to host the family in case the station crews respond on calls. The Fire Fighter Wives Auxiliary will also be organizing a toy and clothes drive for the families once there are selected. Please contact Leanna Zamir for more information at firefighterwives@live.com for the toys and clothes donations.
