The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board and County Chapter Executive Board Members who serve on the Labor Management Committee have been working with Fire Administration on this policy prior to its implementation. We submitted a letter to the Fire Chief on April 20, 2011 expressing our position to include the proposed policy changes by the IAFF Local 244 Executive Board. After careful deliberation over the joint labor/management Promotional Policy Committee's recommendations the Executive Board recommended only one change; the removal of the value of the Chief’s Interview. It is the position of the Executive Board that promotions should be awarded for our member’s hard work and merit alone. We believe that the policy submitted by the Executive Board is consistent with our union’s fundamental values of equity.
