The City Chapter Paramedic School Incentive Pay MOU was approved, pursuant to Article II, Section 2 Contract Vote/Ratification & Section 4 Memorandums of Understanding of the Constitution & Bylaws at the Special Meeting which was held on September 27, 2021. The signed Paramedic School Incentive Pay MOU is available to view in the member’s area under the 'Contracts' tab.

Attention City Chapter Members:

A City Chapter Special Meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 27, 2021, at 10:00a.m. at the Union Hall in accordance with Article II, Section 4 & Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting will be for final membership approval of the IAFF 244/AFR Paramedic School Incentive MOU. The special meeting will start promptly at 10:00a.m. Please review the MOU in the ‘Contract’ section of the website. If you have any questions, please contact a Local 244 Executive Board Member.


The Central New Mexico Labor Council will be hosting their annual Labor Day Picnic! We invite all our IAFF Local 244 members to join us in celebrating this very important day for all of LABOR!! Wear a union or department shirt to get your free food!! This is a family friendly event-all are welcome.

The IAFF Local 244 General Election will be held in December 2021 (Exact Date-TBD)

Attention All Members:

Nominations for the 2021 General Election officially open at the General Membership Meeting on September 9, 2021 and will close at the General Membership Meeting on November 11, 2021.

In accordance with the Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters IAFF Local 244 Bylaws: Article X, Officer Elections, Section 4. Elected Officer Terms all ‘Odd Year’ positions will be up for election in 2021There will also be four (4) ‘Even Year’ positions up for election, which will be for a one (1) year term due to vacancies. See detailed listing below.

The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board is accepting letters of interest for the position of County 2nd Trustee for the next 14 calendar days. The Executive Board will appoint a member to serve in this position at the next Executive Board meeting on September 9, 2021, until the next General Election in December 2021; in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws, Article VI, Section 5. All letters of interest can be turned in to the Union Hall or emailed to kesiaff244@gmail.com on or before September 3, 2021.  


The City Chapter One Time Payment of $500.00 MOU was approved, pursuant to Article II, Section 2 Contract Vote/Ratification & Section 4 Memorandums of Understanding of the Constitution & Bylaws at the Special Meeting which was held on August 12, 2021. The signed One Time Payment of $500.00 MOU will be available to view in the member’s area under the 'Contracts' tab and this one-time payment will be forth coming.


COVID-19 UPDATE:

Attention IAFF Local 244 Members,

As this situation continues to evolve, the Executive Board of IAFF Local 244 would like to be clear with our membership that while we strongly encourage our members to be vaccinated against the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2); we also believe that the decision to get this vaccination should made by the member and his/her medical provider. Currently there is no mandate for either City or County members requiring vaccination and your Executive Board supports this direction. We recommend that all members read the IAFF full position statement as it includes vital information related to mandates. If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact one of your Executive Board Officers.

Members are urged to follow the IAFF social media platforms and to refer to the  IAFF Corona Virus Resource Page for important, continuously updated information. The IAFF strongly recommends all members be vaccinated against the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).  Read their full position statement here.


Attention City Chapter Members:

In accordance with Article II, Section 4 & Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws, a proposed MOU from the City of Albuquerque for a ‘One Time Payment of $500.00’ will be brought to the membership for an approval vote. This Memorandum of Understanding which would be between the IAFF Local 244 and City of Albuquerque (if approved) is scheduled for a vote during a Special Meeting prior to the General Membership Meeting. The Special Meeting will be held August 12, 2021, at 6:30pm. Please review the attached MOU prior to the special meeting. If you have any questions or concerns related to the MOU, please reach out to any Executive Officer.

The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board is accepting letters of interest for the position of Sergeant at Arms for the next 14 calendar days (this is a General Officer Position and can be filled by a City or County Chapter Member). The Executive Board will appoint a member to serve in this position at the next Executive Board meeting, until the next General Election in December 2021; in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws, Article VI, Section 5. All letters of interest can be turned in to the Union Hall or emailed to kesiaff244@gmail.com on or before August 13, 2021.  


IAFF Local 244 membership, I will be stepping down from my role as Sergeant at Arms today for many reasons. Reasons that place my family and my personal health as a priority. I no longer fit into the direction of this executive board and feel that separation from it is best for the entire body.
