The IAFF Local 244 County Chapter Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) has been tentatively agreed upon (TA'd). The ratification vote will take place on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 7:00am -7:00pm in accordance with Article II, Section 2 and Article XI, Sections 2, 3 & 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws.  The designated poll sites will be: Union Hall, Station 33 and Station 40. Absentee voting shall be provided for members unable to attend the ballot vote in the event that the member is on leave, departmental trip, training status, or on paid status at the time of the vote, in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws Article XI, Section 3. Members who meet the requirements for Absentee voting may contact the Sergeant at Arms, or designee, and complete an Absentee Ballot at the Union Hall. Members must contact the Sergeant at Arms between 0900 to 1500 hours on the following dates, per the Election Committee: Thursday, Oct 29, 2020 & Friday, Oct 30, 2020.

The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board is accepting letters of interest for City 1^st Steward for the next 14 calendar days. The Executive Board will appoint a member to serve in this position at the Executive Board meeting scheduled on October 1, 2020 until the next General Election in December 2020; in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws, Article VI, Section 5. Re: Postponement of General Officer Election

Dear Local 244 Members,

On behalf of your Executive Board and the Election Committee we are writing to inform all members that it is the direction of the Executive Board to postpone our 2020 General Officer Election-originally scheduled for December 9, 2020.

We would like to convey that this unprecedented decision was not made lightly and under normal circumstances would likely never be considered. However, the COVID-19 situation is continuing to progress rapidly in our state, community, and departments. As stewards of our community and with an abundance of caution the members of your Executive Board felt it necessary to temporarily postpone the election date. This decision will be reevaluated upon new and available information which will be used as a guide for setting a new General Officer Election date.

Members will be notified by mail and email to current addresses on file, 14 days prior to the new election date. Please note that nominations and letters of acceptance were not impacted by this decision. The individuals who were nominated during the 3-month nomination period and who also accepted their nomination will appear on the ballot when the vote is held.

Nominations for the 2020 General Election officially open at the General Membership Meeting on September 10, 2020 and will close at the General Membership Meeting on November 12, 2020.

In accordance with the Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters IAFF Local 244 Bylaws: Article X, Officer Elections, Section 4. Elected Officer Terms all ‘Even Year’ positions will be up for election in 2020. There will also be one ‘Odd Year’ position up for election, which will be for a one (1) year term due to a recent vacancy. See detailed listing below.

A City Chapter Special Meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 29, 2020 at 11:00a.m. at the Union Hall in accordance with Article II, Section 4 & Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting will be for final membership approval of the IAFF 244/AFR Upgrading Outside of the Bargaining Unit MOU. The special meeting will start promptly at 11:00a.m. Please review the MOU in the ‘Contract’ section of the website. The City Chapter recently signed a revised Covid-19 MOU which will be presented to the membership for final approval at the General Membership meeting on June 11, 2020 at 7:00p.m. at the Union Hall (Please note-this will be an in-person General Membership meeting).

A City Chapter Special Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 11:00a.m. via ‘Zoom Online Video Meeting’ in accordance with Article II, Section 4 & Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting will be for final membership approval of the AFR REVISED COVID-19 MOU. The special meeting will start promptly at 11:00a.m.
