A Special Meeting is scheduled at the Union Hall for June 28, 2017 in accordance with Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting is to approve a Memorandum of Understanding between the IAFF Local 244 and Bernalillo County. The meeting will start promptly at 10:00am. The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board is currently accepting letters of interest for the position of County Chapter Third Steward for the next 14 calendar days. The Executive Board will appoint an eligible member to serve in this position at the Executive Board meeting on June 15, 2017 until the next General Election; in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws, Article VI, Section 5. All letters of interest can be turned in to the Union Hall or emailed to iafflocal244@qwestoffice.net on or before June 13, 2017.  

Congratulations to County Chapter member Keith Clark, who was appointed to fill the County Fourth Steward vacancy on 5/18/17. Keith Clark will serve as the County Fourth Steward until the next  General Election.

The purpose of this meeting is to approve the Political Action Committee recommendation for Governor of New Mexico. The meeting will start promptly at 6:00pm, the General Meeting with follow at 7:00pm. Please call your Chapter Vice-President with any questions.

It is with deep regret and sorrow to report the passing of Brother Fire Fighter Roger Garcia. Roger proudly served the Albuquerque Fire Department for 13 years and will missed by his fire family. We are organizing all resources for his family to provide them as much comfort as possible during this difficult time. IAFF Brothers and Sisters are standing-watch over his body until the funeral services. Please contact IAFF Local 244 Steward Cris Cruz or Chief Steward Albert Ortega to be scheduled to stand-watch.

The following Proposed Constitution & Bylaw Amendments were voted on during the 3-9-17 General Membership Meeting and passed Unanimously!

Attention Members:

The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board has called for a secret ballot vote to be held during the March General Membership meeting on March 9, 2017 beginning at 10:00a.m. to adopt proposed Bylaw Amendments. This vote is called pursuant to Article XIV Amendments, Section 1, Method of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws. The proposed amendments include changes or additions to the following Articles:

1) Article IV:

     Section 6.  TV Fund

     Section 9.  Survivor's fund

     Section 10. Benevolent Fund

2) Article IX:  

     (New) Section 7. Constitution & By-Laws Committee
