On Monday, January 5, 2015 the IAFF Local 244 Executive Board will present the County Chapter Fire Marshal’s Office MOU for approval by the membership pursuant to Article V, Section 6 Special Meetings & Article II, Section 4 Memorandums of Understanding of the Constitution & Bylaws. The meeting will begin promptly at 11:00a.m. The revised TA'd BCFD MOU can be viewed in the members area under the 'Contracts' tab.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Firefighter Brant Gibbs. As a grieving membership we are showing great compassion and leadership in our support for the Gibbs family. The Executive Board is working hand in hand with Fire Administration, AFD Chaplaincy and the AFD Retiree Association in executing our collective resources to assist the Gibbs family in every way possible. Members have been standing-watch around the clock over Firefighter Gibbs since the morning of his passing and will continue to do so until the memorial services. Any member interested in standing-watch should contact IAFF Steward Justin Cheney to be scheduled.

Interment will be immediately after the Memorial Service at Sunset Memorial 

Dress Code by order of Fire Chief Downey:

AFD Executive Staff, IAFF Executive Board and Academy Staff shall wear Class A uniforms

All other Personnel shall wear Modified Class A unifoms

Attention County Chapter Membership:

The Special Meeting to approve the BCFD MOU scheduled for December 3, 2014 has been cancelled. We are in agreement with County Management to rescind the MOU that was tentatively agreed upon on November 24, 2014. We have revisited the current language and agree to address certain issues with the current draft. The Executive Board will post another Special Meeting announcement and MOU on the website once a new agreement is tentatively agreed upon. We will ensure ample notice is given to the membership for consideration before the final vote of approval pursuant to the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws.

The Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters Christmas Party will be held on December 19, 2014 at Hotel Albuquerque. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased at the union hall Monday through Thursday from 10am to 4pm. For more information call Kelly @ 505-288-2313.

Please submit nominations for Fire Fighter of the Year to: iafflocal244@hotmail.com or in person at the General Meeting on December 11, 2013 for the Executive Board to consider. We will honor one member from each chapter with the Fire Fighter/Paramedic of the year and one general member for the Outstanding Leadership award.
