We hope that you will be able to join us for our 4th annual IAFF Local 244 Fire Muster. We will gather at Civic Plaza in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 29th to celebrate this fundraiser. All money raised will benefit the Local 244 Survivors Fund. This fund is instrumental in allowing us to support the firefighters that have been faced with life-altering medical challenges. Whether it is our own Firefighters facing hardship from the course of the job, or their spouses or children, we are able to assist with the monetary hardships that come with life-threatening illness and/or diagnosis.
This Muster will highlight the event that every Firefighter knows from their time becoming a firefighter, the Combat Challenge (modified). Firefighters will don their bunker gear and give their all in the name of pride for their Department, their fire house, their division and their community. They will climb stairs, sledge hammer steel, drag hose and mannequins in the least amount of time possible to take home the coveted traveling trophy.
Their will be fun for the entire family from 1pm to 6pm.
A Special Meeting is scheduled at the Union Hall on Tuesday, Oct 4, 2022, at 11:00am, in accordance with Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting will be to approve the Political Action Committee recommendation for a Congressional Endorsement. The meeting will start promptly at 11:00am.

The IAFF Local 244 County Chapter Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) has been tentatively agreed upon as of today, September 14, 2022. We strongly encourage all members to attend one of the upcoming scheduled in-person informational meetings for additional information.
The IAFF Local 244 General Election will be held in December 2022 (Exact Date-TBD)

Nominations for the 2022 General Election officially open at the General Membership Meeting on September 8, 2022, and will close at the General Membership Meeting on November 10, 2022.
In accordance with the Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters IAFF Local 244 Bylaws: Article X, Officer Elections, Section 4. Elected Officer Terms all ‘Even Year’ positions will be up for election in 2022. There will also be two (2) ‘Odd Year’ positions up for election, which will each be for a one (1) year term due to vacancies. See detailed listing below.

A formal request for consideration and vote for Honorary Membership for Jeremy Polk, was made by way of a motion during the July 14, 2022, General Membership Meeting. Per the Constitution & Bylaws Article III, Section 9. Honorary Membership: this will serve as a 30-day notice for petition of Honorary Membership for meritorious service to the Local for Jeremy Polk. This vote will take place by secret ballot at the September 8, 2022, General Membership Meeting.
It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Matthew A. King, IAFF Local 244, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brother King, 44, was killed in a helicopter crash on July 16, 2022. Brother King served Bernalillo County Fire Rescue since 2011. Funeral services are scheduled for August 1, 2022 at 11:30a.m. at Tingley Coliseum (300 San Pedro NE).
