City Chapter Special Meeting to approve two (2) MOU’s between IAFF Local 244 and COA/Albuquerque Fire Rescue reference ‘Privileged Communication MOU’ and ‘Reclassification of Positions-Paramedic Lt. to Captain MOU’ A City Chapter Special Meeting is scheduled for Friday July 8, 2022 at 11:00a.m.

The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board is accepting letters of interest for the County Chapter Vice-President position for the next 14 calendar days. The Executive Board will appoint a member to serve in this position on July 20, 2022, until the next General Election (in December 2022) in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws, Article VI, Section 5. All letters of interest can be turned in to the Union Hall or emailed to kesiaff244@gmail.com on or before July 14, 2022 (end of day). This vacancy resulted from Brother Jeremy Polk’s retirement from Bernalillo County Fire & resignation from the Executive Board, effective today, June 30, 2022. The Executive Board would like to extend its appreciation to Brother Polk, for his many years of dedicated service to the members of Local 244.

The IAFF Local 244 City Chapter Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) has been tentatively agreed upon as of today, June 17, 2022. We strongly encourage all members to attend/view one of the upcoming scheduled informational meetings for additional information.

The Informational meetings are scheduled as listed below:

Monday, June 20, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Union Hall (In-Person or Zoom)

Wednesday June 22, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Union Hall (In-Person or Zoom)

The ratification vote will take place on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 7:00am -7:00pm in accordance with Article II, Section 2 and Article XI of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The designated poll sites will be: Union Hall, AFD Station 17 and Station 9.

Absentee voting shall be provided for members unable to attend the ballot vote in the event that the member is on leave, departmental trip, training status, or on paid status at the time of the vote, in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws Article XI, Section 3. Members who meet the requirements for absentee voting may contact Sergeant at Arms Aaron Flores and schedule a time to complete an Absentee Ballot at the Union Hall on June 20th or June 22nd, 2022.

Attention County Chapter Members:

A County Chapter Special Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 10:00a.m. at the Union Hall in accordance with Article II, Section 4 & Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting will be for membership approval of the IAFF 244/BernCo Juneteenth Holiday MOU. The special meeting will start promptly at 10:00a.m. Please review the MOU in the ‘Contract’ section of the website (they can be found in the folder titled 'MOU's for Approval'. The County Chapter Non-Recurring Compensation MOU was approved, pursuant to Article II, Section 2 Contract Vote/Ratification & Section 4 Memorandums of Understanding of the Constitution & Bylaws at the Special Meeting which was held on June 13, 2022. The signed Non-Recurring Compensation MOU can be viewed in the member’s area under the 'Contracts' tab.

June 1, 2022 Attention Local 244 Members, Brother Jeremy Polk has made the formal request for consideration and vote for Honorary Membership for Kelly Silvis, by way of a motion during the May 18, 2022, Executive Board Meeting. Per the Constitution & Bylaws Article III, Section 9.

This year Albuquerque Fire Rescue will be hosting an Inaugural AFR Memorial Day Murph on Monday May 30th at the Training Academy. The Murph Challenge is in honor of Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor Recipient Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who died in combat while attempting to radio headquarters during a firefight.
