*Absentee Voting: In accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws Article XI, Section 3. Members who meet the requirements for ‘Absentee’ voting may complete an Absentee Ballot by contacting the Election Committee Chair or Kelly Silvis and scheduling an appointment beginning November 26th-December 2nd 2019. This option is reserved for members on leave, departmental trip, training status or on paid status at the time of the vote.

Get your tickets for the IAFF Local 244 Christmas Party!
We will celebrate Christmas and honor our members for Firefighter of the Year (City & County) and Outstanding Leadership on Friday December 13, 2019 at Hyatt Regency Downtown Albuquerque. Tickets are $25.00 per person and can be purchased at the union hall Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 3:00pm beginning Monday Nov. 4, 2019. We need volunteers to assist with Political Action (PAC) efforts, as the Nov 5, 2019 election is approaching. IAFF Local 244 has endorsed three (3) candidates for Albuquerque City Council: Ane Romero, Zack Quintero & Pat Davis. Please see the dates below for scheduled PAC efforts.
If any IAFF Local 244 Member is available on different dates/times to assist with putting out signs, door knocking or phone banking-for as little as one hour, please contact General President Cheney at 505-238-3730.

Local 244 Kid’s Halloween Party!! Costumes Welcome!
The 2019 Annual Kid’s Party will be held on Saturday November 2, 2019 at Dave & Buster’s from 10:00am-12:00pm.
Please call/text Kelly @ 505-288-2313 before October 28, 2019 for your family's reservation, an RSVP is required. This year’s event can only accommodate a total of 350 guests & is for 244 members, spouse/significant other & children/step-children; no additional RSVP’s will be accepted once the 350 threshold has been met.
Members may arrive at 9:45a.m. to begin check-in; food will be served starting at 10:15am.
This event will be closed to the general public and will include a buffet, raffle prizes & a pre-loaded power card to be used in the game area.
*UPGRADE UNLIMITED VIDEO GAME PLAY FOR $5 (ADVANCE COMMITTMENT REQUIRED)
Members may UPGRADE the power card to include unlimited video game play (games that do not give tickets) for the entire day of the event for $5.00 per card, this must be done in advance-when you RSVP. *Please note you must guarantee payment for upgrade at check-in to Kelly (cash/check only).
*To upgrade power card you must commit payment by cash or check, made out to IAFF Local 244, due at time of check-in to Kelly. Members will not be able to add unlimited video play the day of the event. Members who request/commit to upgrade will not be allowed into the event without payment for the upgrade fee.

Pursuant to action taken at the last IAFF Convention in 2018, IAFF per capita dues for each active and retired-active member is adjusted annually based on the Consumer Price Index (our monthly dues to the International). As a result there is an overall increase in the amount of .12¢ per pay period, which will go into effect the pay period ending October 25, 2019; this Per Capita increase is in accordance with our Bylaws, Article IV, Section 5.

The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board is accepting letters of interest for the position of County Chapter 2nd Trustee for the next 14 calendar days. The Executive Board will appoint a member to serve in this position at the Executive Board meeting on September 19, 2019, until the next General Election; in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws, Article VI, Section 5. All letters of interest can be turned in to the Union Hall or emailed to iafflocal244@qwestoffice.net on or before September 18, 2019.

Nominations for the 2019 General Election officially open at the General Membership Meeting on September 12, 2019 and will close at the General Membership Meeting on November 14, 2019.
In accordance with the Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters IAFF Local 244 Bylaws: Article X, Officer Elections, Section 4. Elected Officer Terms all ‘Odd Year’ positions will be up for election in 2019. There will also be multiple ‘Even Year’ positions up for election for a one year term due to various vacancies. See detailed listing below.
